| STE: | Assessment of CO2 separation in power plants with respect to energy and the environment ( |
Whether CO2 separation in power plants and carbon dioxide sequestration can be implemented in a technically and economically appropriate manner in terms of an overall strategy also depends on the energy environment. An energy system model will be used to investigate the role that CO2 separation can play, bearing in mind different political and energy-economy constraints (e.g. reinvestment cycles).

Following studies by IWV, the material inputs and outputs throughout the entire life cycle of the membranes to be developed will be analysed with the aid of a life cycle assessment (LCA). The aim is to quantify the ecological impact of the use of this novel technology.
